There are around 500,000 road accidents every year. About 250,000 of these involve people being injured and the other 250,000 do not. But injured or not injured, cars still get damaged and/or scrapped.
Alot of insurance compaines will class a car as a "write off" if its garage bill will be more than the current value of the car. In this instance the driver will recieve the money for the car equal to its current value. This is the tempting option becuase you can then buy a new car so alot people would choose to get the money rather than fix it themselves.
On the other hand, some people prefer to buy secondhand or reconditioned parts from scrap yards or breakers and then take them to the garage to be fitted. This is a very cost effective way of fixing your car.
If you have crashed the front of your car, chances are, alot of parts could be damaged. Firstly there would be damage to the bodywork including the bumper and bonnet and maybe front lights? But, as with anything, some cars are more durable than others. If you have a slightly less durable car like a citroen, there colud quite easily be damage to parts under the bonnet. Behind the bumper, the radiator and fan could well be damaged, then beyond that the front panel etc. All these parts can be hard to come by now, thanks to the government scrappage scheme becuase more and more cars are being crushed instead of re-selling the parts.
